• Using technologies like mod_rewrite for Apache and ISAPI_rewrite for Microsoft to transform URLs like

http://abc.com/blog?id=123 into: http://abc.com/blog/google-fresh-face

• Use hyphens to separate words

• Not all web applications accurately interpret separators like underscore "_," plus "+," or space "%20

• Don't change URLs for the sake of changing them: If a URL is changed, it is best to ensure it is redirected using a 301 or permanent redirect
